Buzzy's teacher was doing the mid-year student evaluations this week. They have to identify letters, numbers, phonic sounds, write their names, draw a picture of themselves, etc.
Teacher: (putting paper and pen down for Buzzy) "If you drew a picture of Buzzy, what would it look like?"
Buzzy: "Well, it would look just like me."
"Pretty soon I'm gonna get bigger and be a grownup like you, dad, and I'll have black hair (wildly gesturing) all over my body."
{thoughtful pause}
"Yeah, but I don't wan't hair on my ripples."
Upon inspecting his dinner:
"The audience has never had this before..."
While watching the documentary, Babies.
b: "Mommy, why is that there?"
b: "Mommy, why is he doing that?"
b: "What is that baby looking at Mommy?"
b: "Is that Africa, Mom?"
b: "Mommy, why blah, blah, blah, blah?"
me: "OK, enough with the questions, just watch and you'll see."
b: "There's a goat near that baby, Mom... that wasn't a question, it was a statement."
Went to the OB today with puffy, swollen eyes and despite everything - massive bleeding, vomiting, nearly passing out, etc. - I am still currently pregnant! I am absolutely blown away.
Kinda came to terms with a loss and now I'm so freaking shocked, I don't even know what to think. Hope this turns out well.
Newty wanted Buzzy to take his shoes off for him when we got home today instead of me. Ouch. Doing it himself, I get. And the recent Daddy mode, sure. But, ouch. Hello from the bottom of the diaper pyramid.
In lieu of birthday gifts, the boys collected pantry and personal items to donate to the Food Bank. They even helped load and unload the enormous boxes of items with a volunteer. Buzzy said to the guy helping them, "When I'm hungry, I have food. But, some people don't." Just a sec... there's something in my eye...
Next year, when Buzzy turns five (eeek!!) and Newt turns three (double eeek!!), I'll be giving them a choice between 2 or 3 causes to support... Heifer International, perhaps?
Buzzy chose to wear a red necktie when we went out to pre-birthday dinner. Someone asked him about it and he said he was "Jack Tonneghy." WTF? 30 Rock?
Me: "Here's your shirt."
Buzzy: "I don't want that one!"
Me: "You want a collared shirt, huh?"
Buzzy: "Yeah, I love them very much!"
Me: "Why do you like wearing collared shirts so much?"
Buzzy: "Because I like to look sharp."
A 40 minute road trip in the new minivan got us to a family farm that let us "help" harvest the corn that they then chopped up for the cows. Fun! until I tripped into a ditch.
